Brightlight Scholarship
Brightlight Scholarship in honor of draper alumni Colleen Buckley

The Bright Light Scholarship Fund was founded in 2022 by the parents of Colleen Buckley. Colleen was truly a bright light, a passionate, dedicated and gifted Draper student who had gone on to pursue a career as a professional dancer with the Arizona Ballet. When Colleen was tragically taken from us at just 25 years old, Colleen’s parents looked for a way to honor her, her love of dance, and to continue Colleen’s legacy of compassion and generosity.
Over the past 2 years funds raised have helped dozens of dancers pursue their dreams. Bright Light Scholars are aspiring dancers who have shown outstanding character, dedication and passion for the art of dance. They must also be compassionate members of our community. They are nominated by their teachers and get support for tuition, summer intensives and international ballet competitions. Bright Light funds are also utilized in emergency situations. If a family is going through a difficult time and a student’s dance education is at risk due to financial restraints, the Bright Light scholarship fund is there to ensure that a dancer’s education and training will not be disrupted.
We are kindly asking for your support. No gift is too big or too small, every dollar raised will be utilized to make young dancers dreams come true.
