Four Week Senior Intensive

Draper Center brings together an internationally renowned guest faculty to provide an inspirational and educational experience filled with excitement and opportunity. Draper Center’s four week senior intensive has been developed over the past 30 years and incorporates a high level of classical ballet and technique training along with classes in Musical Theater, Contemporary Dance, Character, Modern, and several forms of cross training for dance.

Our guest faculty come to us from all over the world and bring with them a unique knowledge and experience of the professional dance world. Alongside the Draper Center faculty, they provide our students with the highest level of professional dance education.

Our small class sizes and individual attention provides the perfect atmosphere for personal growth. In our summer intensive, we focus on developing the whole dancer: technique, artistry, diversity of movement quality, creativity, physical strength, and a focused and determined mindset. The Draper Center summer intensive is a great place to make lifelong memories, great friends, and outstanding connections with the greater dance community. 

Our four week Senior Intensive concludes with a celebratory performance showcasing all the hard work and progress that’s been achieved throughout the program. This performance has become a highlight for our summer intensive students.

Room, Board, and Transportation Information:

There are additional fees and charges due. Students will be assigned to a host family for the duration of the program. The host family will be responsible for all meals and transportation. We will do our best to pair our guest dancers with a family of a student that is close in age and in the same level of the program.

Host families will provide entertainment for the guest dancers on the weekends at an additional cost to the dancer. Host families will be responsible for arranging weekend activities and providing transportation. (Students are also encouraged to bring activities to keep them occupied.)

We will provide transportation to and from the airport for students visiting from outside the area. Students must notify the Draper Center staff if transportation is needed.

VIDEO AUDITIONS

 

Deadline: July 1, 2024

An internet link or thumb drive is to be submitted. Video MUST include samples of barre work and center work including ALL of the following: adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro, and grande allegro. Auditions submissions MUST include a cover letter with your full contact information (name, address, phone, email), and your dance history.

The Draper Center Two Week  Intensives are the perfect setting for technical and artistic growth in young and pre-professional dancers. Disney Adventures, and Dance Safari are joyful ways to explore self-expression through music and dance. Your child will work on developing physical skills, channeling energy, and stimulate imagination and creativity. Disney Adventure, and Dance Safari classes are filled with structured creative play, engaging and thought-provoking props, storytelling, and expressive pantomime. Disney Adventures, and Dance Safari will give your child an outlet to dance the way they enjoy dancing while helping them to develop additional coordination, balance, flexibility, and strength. Most of all, Disney Adventures, and Dance Safari is filled with fun and imagination!

PRE-BALLET & JAZZ CLASSES –JUNE 25 – JULY 17, 2024

Pre-Ballet is your child’s first encounter with finding excitement in the structure and detail of classical ballet training. There are many benefits to Pre-Ballet including physical preparation, flexibility, strength, and balance. There are also cognitive advantages including focus, attention to detail, and creativity. Pre-Ballet strikes a healthy balance between structure and self expression. Some Creative Movement techniques remain in place including improvisation, story telling, and the use of thought provoking props. In addition, students begin to learn basic terminology and movement that will be utilized as they transition into the Student Division.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT CLASSES –JUNE 25 – JULY 17, 2024

Summer Class Attire

Ballet:
Pink tights, pink slippers and any solid color leotard. No skirts, sweatpants or shirts. No jewelry, including watches, permitted in class. Hair should be up and off the face with no bangs.

Modern:
Tights without feet; socks are recommended.

Jazz:
Jazz shoes, Ballet Slippers, or bare feet.

Summer Policies

Attendance: Students are expected to attend every class in the level they are assigned and to arrive on time. Progress in class is dependent upon regular and consistent participation. Absences are considered excused only for medical or serious personal reasons and must be phoned into the school office. Students entering class late for any reason may be asked to observe class.

Refund policy: Tuition fees are non-refundable, except in the event of serious injury or illness, in which case the student must provide written documentation from the doctor. In these cases, credit may be extended for future classes or a refund granted. Requests for refunds must be in writing and accompanied by a physician’s certificate stating inability to continue class. Refunds will be prorated on a weekly basis.

Registration fees are not refundable under any circumstances.

Class schedules and faculty are subject to change.

Late Fee Policy: Summer registration fees are due upon enrollment. Summer tuition fees are due in full on the first day of each program. There will be a late charge of $25 for each payment on all accounts that are past due. There is a five (5) day grace period, however, once the grace period has ended you are responsible for paying all fees including the late fee. Accounts that are more than 90 days past due may be turned over to a collection agency and the student will no longer be allowed to attend class.

Returned Check Policy: A $25 service fee will be charged on all accounts for each returned check.

Credit Card Transaction Fee: Beginning September 1, 2023, a 4% fee will be assessed to all credit card transactions. The transaction fee will be automatically added when each credit card payment is processed and the account holder is responsible for paying the fee. Account holders have the option to pay by cash or check to avoid the 4% transaction fee. Account holders can enroll in the Automatic Payment Plan, which will waive the transaction fee for credit card payments applied to Registration & Tuition Fees; however, the transaction fee will be applied to credit card payments applied to any and all other fees. Automatic Payments must be approved on a consistent basis for the transaction fee to be waived on payments applied to Registration & Tuition Fees.
